Our project is embedded within the activities of the CIVICA Alliance – The European University of Social Sciences. As a result of the first call for CIVICA Research Hubs, announced in 2025, four winning consortia were selected to implement their activities in 2026–2027. One of them is our CIVICA Research Hub TRANSCONNECT – “Researching Integration Pathways, Transconnectivity and Policy Innovation in Multilevel Migration Governance”, led by SGH Warsaw School of Economics together with European University Institute (EUI), Stockholm School of Economics (SSE), National University of Political Studies and Public Administration (SNSPA), and Central European University (CEU). The hub’s focus directly corresponds to the CIVICA priority areas of „Societies in transition, crises of Earth” and „Europe Revisited”. In 2026, SGH’s activities within the Hub are carried out under the RID Lead grant, financed by the Minister of Science and Higher Education in Poland as part of the “Regional Initiative of Excellence” Programme.

As of today, the CIVICA Research Hub TRANSCONNECT comprises a unique consortium of 14 Partners across Europe. It includes seven CIVICA Universities and three Ukrainian CIVICA Partners, complemented by four External Partners. Explore our consortium and its members in the Partners section.

The project establishes a long-term research hub on multilevel migration and integration governance in Europe, centred on the novel concept of transconnectivity and taking post-2022 Ukrainian forced migration as its initial focus. Through coordinated research, workshops, seminars, stakeholder engagement, policy innovation, and dissemination activities, it lays the foundation for future Horizon Europe and other large-scale collaborative research proposals to be developed between January 2026 and June 2027.
