HOCEE Seminar–Workshop No. 2, “Between Crisis and Normality: Integration, Knowledge, and Academia–NGO Cooperation in Practice”, was held on 29.05.2026 at the Centre of Migration Research, University of Warsaw (CMR UW), Warsaw. The event was co-organised by the Centre of Migration Research, University of Warsaw (CMR UW), the Ukrainian House Foundation, the Migration Consortium, the Humanitarian Observatory for Central and Eastern Europe (HOCEE), MigLab at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin (UMCS), the Mapuj Pomoc Network, the To Proste Foundation, and SGH Warsaw School of Economics through the CIVICA Research Hub TRANSCONNECT.
It was organised within the project “Advancing Academia–NGO Knowledge Co-Production in Humanitarian Studies: Insights from the CEE Region (KNOWCEE)”, implemented in Poland between January and June 2026 by partners involved in the Humanitarian Observatory for Central and Eastern Europe (HOCEE). Dr Marta Pachocka (SGH; CIVICA Research Hub TRANSCONNECT; CMR UW) was among the co-organisers and co-moderators of the event.
Participants discussed how the integration of forced migrants from Ukraine in Poland is evolving in the context of a “new normality” and explored ways in which academia and civil society organisations can effectively co-produce knowledge and good practices in the fields of migration, integration, and humanitarian studies. The seminar provided a space for reflection on practical experiences and research findings, the challenges of cross-sectoral cooperation, and approaches to building sustainable models of collaboration in the context of a protracted crisis and rapidly changing socio-political realities.
